Case Study

Industrial Steel & Wire

Relationship

Jeff Suess began his relationship with Industrial Steel and Wire years ago in the early 2000s. Raincoat Roofing has provided multiple years of service to Industrial Steel and Wire, from a full install of a new single-ply Durolast system to providing repairs over several areas of a warehouse. The building itself has a unique transition from the East to the West. The office section of the building has a single-ply Durolast roof, the central area is a barrel roof with modified bitumen, and the warehouse section to the East is an older Built Up system with gravel.

Project Bio

Industrial Steel and Wire – 1901 N. Narragansett Ave, Chicago, IL Business was started in 1935 during the Great Depression

Company Size/Building Size:

Over 300,000 square feet of warehouse space nationwide 122,000 square feet at the Chicago location

Project Highlights

The office roof was replaced in 2012, with a single-ply Durolast membrane. Of the roughly 74,000 square feet of roofing that was replaced; Raincoat Roofing found failing and poor decking in nearly 10,000 square feet of that section of the building. This provided Raincoat Roofing the opportunity to showcase our abilities in providing the best possible outcome for their business. It was critical to keep the office space watertight and dry, as is every roof for any customer, but the maintenance work we have done for the other sections is even more important to note. The steel wire stored inside the warehouse area is in a pure raw form. Any type of corrosion could take place with higher than normal moisture levels or leak areas, once the wire is damaged it is unusable. Raincoat Roofing has kept the building, from East to West watertight for years and years to come.
